The Well Tempered Pianist 24 Preludes for piano , Op.77 Francis Routh
Listen to the music here first , then attend a public performance
CONCERT: 21 October 2009 7.30 p.m. Barbican Library performed by Charles Matthews
These preludes use today's scale of extended tonality in the same way that Bach
used the diatonic scale in the 48 Preludes and Fugues (The well-tempered clavier).
Many composers have added to the classical tradition of piano music in this way by writing 24 Preludes, most notably Chopin, Debussy and Shostakovich.Hear the new sonority of Francis Routh's 24 Preludes for piano by downloading four of them from the
recording by Charles Matthews, shortly to be released by Redcliffe Recordings.
